iSTEM Description

iSTEM is a program offered to 7th and 8th grade students only.  Students master core content by transferring and applying their classroom learning to solve real-world problems both local and global in nature. Students build self-confidence and life skills through integrated instruction in the 4 Cs: Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Communication.

The program provides a rigorous and engaging academic environment incorporating technology with innovative pathways which empower students to take ownership for academic success. Student learning is transferred and applied to new or different situations to challenge and strengthen critical thinking. Motivated, high-achieving iSTEM students may choose the additional challenge of self-directed honors content extensions in grades 7 & 8 to encourage explorations in passion areas and build creative and critical thinking skills.  Those students will earn an Honors designation on their transcripts.

Becoming an iSTEM Student:

We have a new process for students to enter into our iSTEM pathway from 6th to 7th grade.  There is no longer an application or artifact requirement. There will not be any requirements outside of school for students to complete.  Students will be working with their teachers to identify their interests through both elective wheel courses and projects they have completed.  Students will begin registering for 7th grade courses at the end of February.  During this process students will select their electives and indicate their interest in either the iSTEM or Humanities pathway. We will do our absolute best to accommodate your child's area of interest.

Thank you for your support of this amazing program over the past years. We will continue to provide a strong iSTEM program as well as a newly focused Humanities pathway for our students.  Both pathways will provide project based learning opportunities for students.
